Green Washing is a relatively new term referring to companies that inaccurately or falsely claim that their business is environmentally sound. While many companies may make claims in error, stakeholders across the board fear being associated with a brand that has misrepresented their environmental impact.
Below is one story in which a bank was believed to be falsely representing it’s “carbon neutral” pledge while investing in coal projects. While such investments may have fallen below the radar of executives, the story was picked up by some of the largest organizations in business news and widely broadcast to a global audience.
