You and your fellow Share-ifyers have to create product specifications now. How do you know if the specifications or the products associated with the specifications are “real”. Just because a company may be GFSI certified does not mean the products manufactured at the factory meets the requirements within the specifications.
Share-ify provides you with the capability to capture Certificate of Analysis data for comparison to the specification attributes for compliance determination. Of course, we know that the data on a Certificate of Analysis is based upon a very small sample of a lot of product which may be as much as 10,000 pounds or the average of hourly process testing during a shift of production. So, how comfortable should you be that your products are in compliance? Certificates of Analyses are used as evidence for quality compliance but they also are used to illustrate fellow Share-ifyers’ preventive measures are preventing hazards from occurring. What should you actually be doing?
Share-ify would allow you to collect process capability information from your fellow Share-ifyers. I would be much more comfortable with the product received at my factory knowing the manufacturing process producing the products were actually capable to achieve the attributes in the specification. For your processes to perform as designed, the material inputs must meet the design criteria in the specifications.
We will talk more about audits in the future, but doing your own targeted audits allow you to specifically assess the production records and process controls for products shipped to you.
